Your primary focus will be on repairing and reconstructing damaged vehicle bodies, frames, and structural components using various welding techniques and equipment. You will collaborate with a team of automotive technicians and bodywork specialists to ensure high-quality repairs, adherence to safety standards, and customer satisfaction. Responsibilities: Perform Welding and Fabrication Tasks: Utilize various welding techniques (e.g., MIG, TIG, spot welding) to repair and reconstruct damaged vehicle bodies, frames, and structural components. Interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications to effectively execute welding and fabrication tasks. Select appropriate welding methods, materials, and equipment based on the type and extent of damage and the vehicle manufacturer's guidelines. Prepare and Clean Surfaces: Prepare damaged surfaces by removing rust, debris, and paint using appropriate tools and techniques. Clean and degrease surfaces to ensure optimal welding conditions and the adhesion of new materials. Assess and Repair Vehicle Damage: Inspect damaged vehicles to assess the extent of repairs required and determine the best approach for repair. Identify and mark damaged areas for repair, replacement, or reinforcement. Straighten or align damaged frames and structural components using hydraulic equipment and precision measuring tools. Welding Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of welding equipment to ensure proper functioning and safety. Identify and report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor. Quality Control and Safety: Ensure adherence to safety protocols and regulations to maintain a safe working environment. Conduct quality control inspections to verify the integrity and accuracy of repairs, welds, and finishes. Identify and rectify any defects or imperfections in the welding or body repair work. Collaboration and Documentation: Collaborate with automotive technicians, bodywork specialists, and other team members to coordinate repair efforts and meet project deadlines. Document repair procedures, materials used, and work performed accurately and comprehensively. Qualifications and Skills: High school diploma or equivalent. Certification in welding techniques (e.g., AWS certification) is preferred. Proven experience in motor vehicle bodywork welding, preferably in an automotive repair shop or similar environment. Proficiency in various welding techniques, including MIG, TIG, and spot welding. Familiarity with automotive bodywork repair processes, materials, and tools. Knowledge of vehicle structures, frames, and safety standards. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and specifications. Strong attention to detail and quality control.
